I've already emailed you about this amazing essay but I'll post a comment here too. So good to see a LGBT activist not being snobby and judgemental. I sent an email to the Advocate asking why they only gave 2 reasons as to why they had second thoughts about putting Perez 'Lesbophobe' Hilton on the cover. They were, that he had posted the nude and explicit photos of Dustin Lance Black and that he had used the f word. I told them that the journalist who had done the report had not truly done his research properly. Had he taken on Hilton's website on any given day he would've come across Hilton's tired SaMANtha Ronson schtick. Is that not another reason? Or are lesbians not important? Is lesbophobia not important? Am I correct in thinking that the Advocate is a LESBIAN, Gay, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER magazine? Because the Advocate often ignores the L, B and T part of the acronym.
